> SMSalias in general

What is SMSalias?

SMSalias is a complete wireless messaging system that allows users to send and receive SMS messages all over the world (see service coverage table here http://www.smsalias.com/coverage.asp) using MS Outlook® (the most used email client from Mircosoft), Firefox and Thunderbird (Mozilla’s web browser and email client suite), Win Client or via a Web interface.

What is required to send and receive SMS with SMSalias?

First of all, it is necessary to register an account directly on line (http://www.smsalias.com/signup.asp) in order to access the service with a Username, User Id and Password. The Username is the email address that is set by the User during registration. The User ID will be sent with a welcome SMS message to the GSM mobile number that the User will have specified during registration. The Password will be then sent automatically to the email address and can be later modified via the service Web based control panel.

Is it possible to modify Username and/or User ID?

With the exception of the access Password, it is not possible to modify the User registration data. Username, User Id and mobile phone number will be used to identify the Account during the use of the service.

What can I do if I lose or forget the password

A lost or forgotten Password can be requested at any time (http://www.smsalias.com/rememberpwd.asp). User ID and email are required to complete this procedure.

What if I lose the User ID?

The User will have to contact via email technical support specifying the email account and mobile phone number used to register the Account.

Is it possible to set a different email (than the one specified during account registration) for receiving replies to sent SMS messages?

Yes, it is possible. Once the user logs on the SMSalias Web Control Panel, he can then specify a different email and mobile phone number. These changes will affect messaging traffic but not the user registration data.

How is the Account user data treated?

User data are treated as per current laws and regulations. For more information please click here http://www.smsalias.com/privacy.asp

> The Service
In order to use SMSalias, is it necessary to specify the usage modality during Account registration?

No. The service can be accessed via MS Outlook®, via Win Client, via Web or through the Mozilla suite without making any modifications.

Can “long messages” be sent to all mobile phones?

Yes, although some old generation GSM mobiles phones will not be able to handle concatenated SMS messages and and will breakup long messages (greater than 160 characters) in single messages.

What is the cost for replying via SMS to messages received from SMSalias?

The cost of replying back with a SMS message from a mobile phone will depend on the Operator subscription of the User. The cost will be the same as sending a normal SMS to a mobile phone number.

What is the cost for using SMSalias?

SMSalias is a “pay per use” service and only outbound messages are paid (for SMS costs click here http://www.smsalias.com/prices.asp). There is no cost for download or the software. There are no setup fees or monthly charges.

How can I buy credits (SMS messages) for my account?

The User can reload his account at any moment using the SMSalias Web Control Panel. Payment can be completed via Credit Card (VISA/MASTERCARD with transaction of Sella Bank Secure Server) or with a Bank wire transfer. If payment is done via Credit Card, messages will be immediately loaded on the User’s account. If Payment is done via Bank wire transfer it will be necessary to wait for availably of the funds.

Does SMSalias support connections using Proxy authentication?

Yes, SMSalias supports the connection via Proxy Server with “BASIC” authentication.

Is it possible to send attachments using SMSalias Outlook® Add-In and Win Client 2.0? How does it work?

Yes. SMSalias is currently the only 2way service that is capable to send “long messages” up to 1.200 characters and attached files (a maximum of ten for a total of 200kb). These files are sent to the SMSalias Gateway and are then downloaded by the receiving mobile phone through a WAP PUSH message containing the URL for download. This innovative functionality can be used only for certain type of files and only with new generation mobile phones (called smartphones) that will have to have a Wap Browser (version 1.21 or above) and data connection (via GSM, GPRS, EDGE or UMTS).
